Antony issues message to United fans after difficult season

Antony endured an underwhelming campaign on the wing for Manchester United, but he is trying to keep a positive mindset for the future.

The Reds suffered a difficult season despite winning the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Man City at Wembley.

While it doesn’t quite salvage the campaign, after finishing eighth in the Premier League, it should give the players a taste of success ahead of future battles.

Antony made 38 appearances for United this season. but the Brazilian did not make it off the bench for the FA Cup final win over City.

After a difficult season on an individual note as well as the team, Antony issued a message to fans on Instagram along with a montage of clips from the 2023/24 campaign.

Antony wrote: “2023/24 was a very difficult season, for many reasons. But I suffered quietly! I took this period to reflect and seek self knowledge. Today, at the end of another season, I can say that after everything I’ve been through, I feel much stronger and ready for the challenges. Football gave me everything I have, thanks to it, I was able to help my family, change my life and open up a range of opportunities. After time, the experience will give me the tools to achieve my biggest goals, which are success and to build my story in a world as challenging as the one we live in! I thank God, my family, our fans, my work colleagues and the entire Manchester United staff!!”

The former Ajax star had his issues off the pitch as well as on it. In September, United and Antony agreed that he would take time away from the club after accusations of abuse made by three women.

Antony was not arrested or charged. He continues to deny all of the abuse allegations made against him.

Later that month, Antony returned to training at United and was made available for selection.

It remains to be seen if Antony will be at the club next season after failing to live up to his price tag (£86m), which will continue to hang over his head until he proves his worth at United.
